The Sky is the Limit: Summer Soirée

August 17, 2015

August's hottest summer event will take over the Morgan Manufacturing rooftop of Brass Monkey on Tuesday, August 18th. The Summer Soiree will bring more than 300 of the city's top movers and shakers together to celebrate community, connectivity and creativity. In addition to the networking and cocktails, the Chrome Crew will be incorporating a fashion show with a panoramic skyline view as the backdrop. The models are some of Chicago's most well-connected and influential people from all walks of life including Ben Newby (Master Mixologist), Patrick Cullen (Owner of Presidio), Ryan Beshel (Fashion Media Personality), Franco Lefty (Street Artist), Shala. (Multimedia Artist), Emily Henson (Owner of Pure Barre), Tiffany Louise (Life Coach), Casey Shteamer (Blogger/Fashionista), Fallon Ryan (Lana Jewelry) and Asha Mosley. The runway will be filled with looks by local boutiques, hair by Blowout Junkie and makeup by Trish McEvoy artists and Will Galvan from Forever Now will be curating the music.

This month's guest host is our very own Founder and CEO, Alexandria Ott. Over the past decade, Alex has worked as a writer and PR consultant for a number of brands and businesses in hospitality, lifestyle and government. In 2014, she started Chrome City as the result of her desire to tell a deeper story on behalf of her clients. Chrome City is a catalyst for Chicago creatives to connect with like-minded brands and audiences. For the past year, Alex has also been working on the public relations efforts for Avanse by securing the event spaces and guest hosts whose merit and reach benefit the fundraising efforts of the charity.

The Avanse Happy Hour continuation with a twist will be held at Brass Monkey, a retro chic space, located in the West Loop. It houses a record-listening room, bar and dining area serving a nostalgic American fare. Brass Monkey lies below the unique rooftop of Morgan Manufacturing, a 32,000 square foot area, designed around the concept of modularity and industrial elegance. Morgan Manufacturing, where the fashion show will take place, has a vision of being the intersection of Chicago's business, technology, creative, and philanthropic communities.

"We are looking forward to collaborating with all of these influential people in the community to make this event happen," said Avanse Founder and CEO Jeannette Pawula. "It is going to make a tremendous impact on all of the kids in these countries that often experience the effects of political, economic, and social crises within their countries more severely than adults."

You know where you will find the Chrome Crew on August 18th! Tickets are $35 online and $45 at the door. Brass Monkey will include two drink tickets per guest with purchase of a ticket. The series raises funds and awareness and 100% of all proceeds are invested in programs that benefit the lives of street kids.

MORE ABOUT AVANSE

Avanse is a Chicago based nonprofit working to advance the lives of street kids in Latin America and the Caribbean. The term "Street Kid" is used to refer to a vulnerable group of children whose lives are spent either living or working on the streets. These youth become dependent on life on the street through a complex set of factors, which include war, conflict, abuse, poverty, family breakdown, rebellion, and other emergencies. These children on the street are often subject to abuse, neglect and sexual exploitations and lack access to education and other resources.

Avanse practices a progressive model for nonprofits with a focus on improving the capacity, delivery and availability of education and life skills programs for street kids. They believe the best method for innovation and change is to customize solutions for outreach by addressing the needs of street kids specific to their location. The charity works directly with reputable boots on the ground nonprofits to make a true impact on the lives of street kids. Avanse has evolved over the last five years and now offers a comprehensive range of services to their partners including: Program Development and funding, strategic management, capital planning and investment and sustainability models for their partners.

Can't wait to see you there!
