Let us introduce our Homie, Sunney.

Q: How did you end up in Chicago?

A: I’m a native of Washington, D.C., but moved to a Chicago suburb in my teens. After a four-year stint in Colorado for undergrad, I pondered (with great difficulty) where to head for law school. I was enamored with other options like New York and Los Angeles, but ultimately it was the welcoming feeling in Chicago that did it for me.

Q: What is your favorite part about this city?

A:  What I love about Chicago is that it a small town, yet still with anonymity.  No other city has the vast selection of individuals who are all so open to meet new people and are devoid of exclusivity.  It’s a bottomless pit of opportunity.

Q: How did you meet Alex?

A: I originally met Alex at a restaurant opening; she lit up the room.  I was instantly drawn to her.  We bonded over our entrepreneurial spirits, and our shared belief that business women need to help other business women.  Over time, our friendship and business relationship have lead to countless successful collaborations, both socially and professionally.  That’s really why I love Alex, because there is no compartmentalization with her.  She’s on 100% of the time, and always ride or die.

Q: Who has influenced you the most in your career?

A: Beyonce?  She has the power of a man, but the presence and energy of woman.  Feminine empowerment.  I strive everyday to be viewed as a powerful attorney, not just a female attorney, but please don’t forget that I’m a woman.  And of course I want to wear a leotard to court one day.

Q: What inspires or motivates you?

A: I am most driven by the prospect of helping people navigate through relationships.  From authoring dating blogs, to drafting prenuptial agreements, to litigating divorces, I see every step from search to disassembly.  It’s hard out there, no matter what phase of romantic partnership you’re in—you can’t get somewhere without knowing where you are going.  To help people find their inner purpose, and the best way to proceed, that is what motivates me.

Q: What is your creative process?

A: Procrastination. Pressure is key to get the creative juices flowing.

Thanks for being a Chrome Homie, Sunney!
