Get ready for a celebration of Italian culture and cuisine unlike any other. This Sunday, Vincent Anzalone of Genuine Chicago and celebrated Chicago event planner Rachel De Marte, will produce the First Annual Marinarathon at Morgan Manufacturing on Sunday, November 15th from 1-5 pm. Marinarathon is a competition that will determine which Chicago Italian Restaurant best balances authenticity with modernity in both flavor and approach. Among the fourteen contedners, one winner will be deemed "The Boss of Sauce," as voted by both guests and acclaimed guest judges.
Participating restaurants include A Tavola, Dolce Italian, Formento’s, Francesca’s, La Scarola, Nando Milano, Osteria Langhe, Prosecco, Rosebud Restaurant, Three Aces, Tocco, Via Carducci La Sorella, Viaggio and Volare.
In addition to showcasing their best red sauce, participating restaurants will also offer guests samples of some of their hand-selected favorite bites, including:
Grilled bread with la tur cheese and bone marrow marinara from Osteria Langhe
Nonna's meatballs in red sauce from Formento's
Cavatelli Marinara from Rosebud Restarant
Spaghetti Pie With Bisanzio Pomodoro from Tocco
Rigatoni, pancetta, mild Italian sausage, light tomato cream sauce from Prosecco
Gnocchi with Bolognese from A Tavola
Orecchiette, wild mushrooms, asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes, black truffle cream, shaved Grana Padano, white truffle oil
A panel of well-versed Chicago foodies and writers will choose their favorite dish to determine the winner. Judges include:

The event will pay homage to Chicago's rich Italian history with a focus on the craft of Italian cuisine. Guests will also enjoy a complimentary glass of wine, limoncello, and live Italian music. Proceeds benefit the 100 Club of Chicago which provides for the families of first responders who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
