Here at Chrome City, we pride ourselves in having ultra-creative and inspiring homies throughout the Chicago area. Each week, the Chrome Chronicle (our news outlet) will share a little bit about these incredible people and why we are excited to feature them as our #ChromeHomie.
Let us introduce our Homie, Chuck.
Chuck Lira of Columbia College Chicago
Q: What is your role at Columbia College?
A: I am the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations at Columbia College Chicago. I oversee alumni communications and social media, I visit with alumni to find out what they have been doing since their commencement, develop programming that involves bringing alumni back on campus to interact with the student body, produce alumni focused events that increase alumni engagement and fundraising and finally offer career advice and assistance. It's a great position since I am alum of Columbia College myself so I am able to make an immediate connection with fellow alumni upon meeting them.
Q: How did you end up in Chicago?
A: I was born and raised in Chicago on the southside in a neighborhood called, Pullman. I moved downtown to my dorm when I began my freshman year of college in 2004 and have continually moved further north ever since.
Q: What is your favorite part about this city?
A: My favorite part about the city is probably 5000 other people's favorite part about the city but I'm going to say it anyways, the summer! Let's throw spring in there too since we occasionally get some nice spring-like temps in April and May. But yes, my favorite thing about Chicago are the warm months. I love being able to hit up the beach by my condo or walk around the neighborhoods and find a fun patio or rooftop to have some cocktails with friends! There's nothing else like Chicago in the summer and I have already begun the countdown to May!
Thanks for being a Chrome Homie, Chuck!
