Chrome City's Valentine's Day Guide

February 8, 2016

Valentine’s Day: some obsess over it while others dread it. Either way, February 14th is right around the corner and no matter your relationship status, it’s time to start planning. The infamous Love-day is on a Sunday, but we found options for the whole weekend. We’ve got you covered for everything from a fam-friendly event at Love Dose to a wild night at The Drop Lounge. Holiday’s in Chicago are never boring, and this should be no exception; check out our eclectic round up of V-Day events:

For The Fam: Dose Market’s

annual “Love Dose” event takes place during the day. Join #chromehomie April Francis for her 50th Dose event. At this event you’ll realize there are so many ways to enjoy love--whether it be an adult kissing booth, book readings, or heart shaped everything. It’s family friendly, but has just enough sweetness to instill romance. What you do in the night time is up to you!

Details: 10:00-4:00 on February 14 @ 401 N Morgan Street

Cost: $10/guest RSVP @ https://www.dosemarket.com/valentinedose/

For The Eccentric Couple: Super Awesome Night, an event agency in Chicago is putting on an evening that will transport guests to a quirky, magical universe. “Night At The Grand Budapest Hotel” is an all inclusive experience that provides couples with a five course meal inspired by the film and delicious wine pairings curated by Chef David Ochs of Maple & Ash. Morgan’s on Fulton, a multifaceted event space, will be transformed into the whimsical world of Wes Anderson--making for a uniquely romantic evening.

Details: 7:00 p.m. on February 11 @ 950 W. Fulton Market

Cost: $110/guest RSVP @ http://www.superawesomenight.com

For The Social Couple: The Drop Lounge, a Lincoln Park underground getaway, hosts a monthly art show which features different local artists. February’s big event is entitled, “Eros: Greek God of Love,” and will display Love-themed art. For the couple who is looking for a late night party that is festive without being overkill, The Drop Lounge’s event won’t disappoint (plus, it’s open til 4:00 a.m.). The club is offering drink specials that benefit the Children’s Heart Foundation--so make sure to buy your significant other a cocktail to celebrate the love.

Details: 8:00 pm on February 12 @ 1909 N Lincoln Ave

Cost: Free

For Singles: There are countless "singles" parties at giant clubs in Chicago for Valentine’s Day--and they’re a dime a dozen. Avoid that hot mess by going the Screw Cupid Pub Crawl, an annual event in Lincoln Park that includes food buffets, domestic drafts, and trolley transportation. Mix with other singles who may or may not be looking to mingle, while having a drink...or five. Five popular bars are participating, and pub crawlers can start and end at whichever bar they choose.

Details: 8:00 p.m. on February 13 @ any of the participating bars

Cost: $20/guest RSVP @ https://www.eventbrite.com/
