Here at Chrome City, we pride ourselves in having ultra-creative and inspiring homies throughout the Chicago area. Each week, the Chrome Chronicle (our news outlet) will share a little bit about these incredible people and why we are excited to feature them as our #ChromeHomie.
Let us introduce Homie, Asha.
Asha Mosley of Universal Music Group
Q: Explain your job position.
A: I do Lifestyle Marketing for Universal Music Group and am an artist and stylist. My day job with Universal is very cool and dimensional. To sum it up I am a publicist, event planner/coordinator, promoter, day of show press facilitator and guest list defender for artists whom are signed to any of Universal's record labels: DefJam, Interscope, Capital Records, Glassnote, etc.
Q: What is your creative process?
A: Everything starts in my journal. That's where I write out the things that have been whirl-pooling in my mind and eventually make since of them. I believe word is sight, so if I can articulate it - I can see it. From there I visualize it and eventually draw it out.
Q: What inspires and motivates you?
A: The sun and its power to heat and give life to all motivates for me to stay powerful and consistent. The sun reminds me to shine and be who I am regardless of the chaos of life. My imagination, which I document in my journal, is the most inspiriting that I have ever encountered. Plus my styling-partner inspires me so much! He is an absolute badass.
Q: How did you end up in Chicago?
A: I moved here from London after I walked out on a famous yet troubled first love. I had this English accent, a purple suitcase and about $600. I didn't know anyone in the Chi or have a place to live. So I stayed in a hostel for 2 weeks and got a job as a bartender at Vibe bar. (I still don't know how to bartend lol) When I saved enough I rented a garden apartment and have moved up from there. It has been a terrifyingly lovely journey.
Q: What is your favorite part about living in Chicago?
A: The buildings and their ability to bring you beauty wherever you stand.
Q: What has most influenced your career?
A: My growing perception of myself and my abilities.
Q: What is your experience with Alex and Chrome City?
A: Her heart is undeniably huge. She is a star and I appreciate her more than she knows. I have never ending support for her and am inspired by how brave she is. Alex is a lot more than just a winner.
Thanks for being a Chrome Homie, Asha!
