This month is all about eating delicious food and listening to dope music while basking under the hot sun. Whether you spend your time frequenting the beach or exploring the city, we’ve gathered some of the best events happening in July throughout Chicago. These events are what make Chicago one of the rad-est cities to spend your summer in!
Mamby on the Beach
This weekend head to Oakwood Beach for this killer two-day festival featuring a mix of indie, electronic and hip-hop acts. All day Saturday, July 2nd and Sunday, July 3rd enjoy wellness workshops, fire performances, tarot card and palm readings, and other beach friendly games in addition to the music. The festival itself may be new to Chicago (in its second year), but it still hosts some amazing talent and we are especially stoked to see performances from Wild Belle, Santigold, and Lupe Fiasco. After chilling on the beach all day, check out some of the artists and DJs at some of the coolest venues around the city for extended partying!
Forever Now DJ Set at RM Champagne
Enjoy champagne and dope beats from Chicago's hottest DJ duo Will Galvan and Jackie Trezzo on the gorgeous patio of RM Champagne on July 10th. The duo, also known as Forever Now, has been performing together for years and their new wave, synth pop and post punk sound ignites each venue. This combination of music and bubbly is the best way to spend a Sunday - oh and did we mention the beautiful patio with twinkling lights hanging overhead?
Last year Erykah Badu treated us to a performance at the Taste of Chicago, and she is returning to the city on Friday, July 15th for a concert at FirstMerit Bank Pavilion on Northerly Island. Her musical stylings of R&B, hip hop, and jazz have dubbed her the “Queen of Neo-Soul.” We can’t wait to rock out to her newest songs on the waterfront venue. Snag some last minute tickets before they run out!
Wicker Park Fest
On Saturday, July 23rd and Sunday, July 24th join about 70,000 other people in the raddest Chicago neighborhood for Wicker Park Fest. With a lineup of 35 bands, art events, and dozens of the neighborhood’s most popular local boutiques and restaurants, there will be plenty to enjoy from noon to 10pm on both days. Ever since the festival began in 2004, it’s been a favorite of ours to attend.
If you haven’t heard of Lollapalooza, the giant music festival covering Grant Park, you might be living under a rock. The annual music festival featuring alternative rock, heavy metal, punk rock, hip hop, and EDM bands has launched several artists into the public eye. This year the festival has been extended to 4 full days of music for the 25 year anniversary from July 28th-31st. We’re especially excited for Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, DIsclosure, and Lana del Rey, but there are many more acts worth seeing! Check out the lineup and see if you can snag some last minute day tickets!
