As the weather gets warmer and people finally start coming out of winter hibernation, Chicago is full of fun, "can't miss" events. Between disco dancing and talking tech, here's what we'll be doing in March.
DANCE YOUR FACE OFF
March 9th Nicky Siano at DISCO:
Legendary DJ, producer, and Godfather of disco, Nicky Siano, will be returning to DISCO to celebrate his birthday and show a screening of his documentary film, "Love is the Message.” The film showcases a firsthand experience of NYC's first disco club where the dance music scene was ignited in the early 70s. Come join us on Thursday, March 9th to celebrate the past and present of disco music! Film screening preview begins at 8pm and performance starts when DISCO opens at 11pm.
PRETEND TO BE IRISH
March 11th St. Patrick's Day at Third Rail Tavern:
Whether you love or hate the day drinking phenomenon of St. Patrick's day in Chicago, it's a city-wide occasion worthy of consuming way too much alcohol on a Saturday. If you're looking to avoid the chaos downtown (like us) you can head to the West Loop to our favorite neighborhood bar, Third Rail Tavern, for $8 Absolut Bloody Mary's.
SO CAL BANDS IN CHICAGO
March 10th Growlers at METRO:
West Coast garage rockers, the Growlers, will be playing at the Metro on Friday, March 10th. The Costa Mesa based band self-describes as being “Beach Goth” and has a sound that is a blend of surf rock, country-folk, and classic rock. If the weather is dragging you down and you need a little California pick-me-up, you can’t miss their concert at 7pm.
March 18th Cold War Kids at Riviera Theater:
The alternative rockers and Long Beach-based, Cold War Kids, are on a new tour and making a stop in Chicago. They will be playing their soulful, indie rock hits on Saturday, March 18th at The Riviera Theater. We’re looking forward to their hits “Hang Me Up To Dry” and “Audience,” and can’t wait to dance it out with our fellow So Cal mates.
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF MAD DEALS
Starting March 16th March Madness at Celeste:
March Madness is quickly upon us and there’s no better way to celebrate than taking advantage of all the exclusive Happy Hour deals at Celeste. With deals like $8 Al Pastor Nachos, $5 Fried Mushrooms, and $4 Domestic Brews, they’ve got everything you could need to support your favorite team. We know where we will be watching the sporting event of the season, starting on March 16th!
March 16th Marketing Disrupted:
PeopleVine will be continuing their monthly series, Marketing Disrupted on Thursday, March 16th at 1871 (12th floor of Merchandise Mart) starting at 6pm. The monthly talk show-style series brings together "disrupters" from across Chicago to share their stories and experience to help startup companies and guests conquer the brave new world of marketing. Put together by our homies, Mo Akintunde and Chris Lindsey, join us for a night of networking and learn how to stand out in today's marketing landscape.
