Here at Chrome City we pride ourselves in having ultra-creative and inspiring homies throughout the Chicago area. Each week, the Chrome Chronicle will share a little bit about these incredible people and why we are excited to feature them as our #ChromeHomie.
Let us introduce our Homie, Cedric!
Cedric E. Combs, General Manager of Disco Chicago
Q: Explain your job position.
A: I'm The General manager of Disco Chicago. Chicago's first true discotheque.
Q: What inspires and motivates you?
A: I have a strong desire to always want to learn and improve. I always want to grow as an individual. I'm inspired by others creativity and positive energy and drawn to people, who without knowing, motivate me and inspire me.
Q: You have seen it all in the nightlife scene- what about Disco makes it the success that it is today?
A: Disco brings back something that has been missing in the club scene- a night of fun. People come here to dance, sing along, celebrate, and lose all inhibitions. I've seen people who would normally never go out come and break out their best Tony Manero moves. Of course, there's also that L.E.D. dance floor.
Q: What are your favorite modern artists or songs that are inspired by disco music?
A: I'm really into No Regular Play, Wolf & Lamb, Soul Clap and the Crew Love Djs. They have such a definitive sound that's all their own. One of my favorite tracks on my current playlist is 2 Future for Love.
Q: What events are coming up at Disco in the next few months?
A: Throwback Thursdays! We are a music venue and pride ourselves on having some of Chicago's best local DJs and out of town DJs Such as Nicky Siano from Studio 54.
Q: What are you most proud of that was accomplished in the last year?
A: Being the GM of Disco. I left a really good banking career and started life over working as a front door host and my gamble paid off when I was offered this position. I have a place to host all the amazing people who I have met and continue to meet each week.
Q; What is your experience with Alex and Chrome City?
A: I have nothing but the utmost respect for Alex and the Chromie Homies. I sing her praises every chance I get. My experience has been nothing short of awesome, she is so passionate about what she does.
Thanks for being a Chrome Homie, Cedric!
