Here at Chrome City we pride ourselves in having ultra-creative and inspiring homies throughout the Chicago area. Each week, the Chrome Chronicle will share a little bit about these incredible people and why we are excited to feature them as our #ChromeHomie.
Let us introduce our Homie (and Instagram guru), Julia!
Julia Daoud, Founder and Creative Director of Simply Jules
Q: Explain your job position.
A: I am the Owner, Founder and Creative Director behind the blog Simply Jules, your elegant source of simplistic luxury and lifestyle. Aside from being a content creator for Simply, I do social media consulting and I recently joined the team at Scratch Goods.
Q: What is your creative process?
A: I don’t really have one. Creativity is an interesting thing and I find it in the most random moments of my day. When working on specific projects it’s usually me sitting alone in my office scribbling down random words that go through my head until something clicks. When it’s for my personal work I couldn’t even begin to explain - it can take a lot to dig through my mind but I get there.
Q: What inspires and motivates you?
A: Honestly almost anything can inspire me. I love watching documentaries, especially on fashion designers and other creatives. But fashion is everything around us; It’s in our environment, in our ideas and the way we live. I try to travel as often as I can and draw inspiration from an array of cultures and decades.
Q: How did you end up in Chicago?
A: I moved to Chicago in 2012 for school. I attended DePaul University and got a Bachelors of Science degree and have just been in love with the city ever since. I knew from the first time I ever visited the city that this would be a home.
Q: What is your favorite part of living in Chicago?
A: There is so much creativity and so much potential which is probably the biggest reason why I decided to stay here post grad. Chicago’s creative world is expanding so rapidly and it’s amazing to watch it grow and be apart of it.
Q: What has most influenced your career?
A: Passion. I stress all the time how important it is to absolutely love what you do. Following a passion is a huge challenge and an even bigger risk, but if you love it then you’ll stick through it when times get tough and ultimately drive yourself to success.
Q: What is your experience with Alex and Chrome City?
A: Alex has always been such a pleasure to work with. I love the passion she has with everything that she does, it’s very inspiring! Chrome City is definitely the dopest creative agency.
Thanks for being a #ChromeHomie, Julia!
