September 29, 2017

Here at Chrome City we pride ourselves in having ultra-creative and inspiring homies throughout the Chicago area. Each week, the Chrome Chronicle will share a little bit about these incredible people and why we are excited to feature them as our #ChromeHomie.

Let us introduce our Homie, Katie!

Katie Schuppler, Owner of KS Style Consulting and Beauty Writer for Chicago Woman Magazine

Q: Explain your job position.

A: I am a Personal Style Consultant and Fashion Blogger/Writer who loves to help others create their own personal style in this fast paced world of fashion and just life in general. Having a Bachelors of Arts degree in Fashion Merchandise Management and Business Administration from Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, WI I had then gone on to become a Stylist/Style Director at the #1 women’s boutique in Milwaukee, Fred Boutique.

Now living in the city of Chicago, I have been dedicated to helping my clients (Men, Women, Kids, Tall, Petite, and Plus Size) find their own personal style through advice, Styling Sessions, Closet Clean-outs, Consignment, and Look Books throughout the Chicagoland, Southeastern Wisconsin, and Southwestern Michigan areas for over 6 years. I also worked as the former Wardrobe Stylist for The Whitney Reynolds Show in Chicago and am currently a Style and Beauty Contributor for Chicago Woman Magazine.

Q: What is your creative process?

A:  Being in the fashion industry there is so much that inspires the creative process, but one aspect that gets me excited is color and prints! I love a unique piece of clothing and/or outfit. I have always loved the ads in fashion magazines (which I know many hate), but I love them and find them almost magical in some ways. All of those aspects combined help me to be the most creative in my wardrobe styling.

Q: What inspires and motivates you?

A: I am always motivated to do more and grow more! As much as it can stress me out, I know I am not happy unless I am doing what I love and working all the time. Being a woman in the business world is automatically extremely

Q: How did you end up in Chicago?

A: I ended up in Chicago right after I graduated college after deciding that starting my career in Los Angeles wasn’t for me anymore. I always knew I wanted to end up in a big city and with all of my family living in Wisconsin I loved that Chicago was still so close and still had that great Midwest feel.

Q: What is your favorite part of living in Chicago?

A: Everything about Chicago makes it the best city to live in in my opinion! The food, the people, the fashion and beauty community, and the willingness of other small business owners to help each other grow.

Q: What has most influenced your career?

A: I don’t know if there is one thing in particular, but of course fashion designers, Rachel Zoe, and my Mom and Dad who are both entrepreneurs who are motivate me every day because of their success!

Q: What is your experience with Alex and Chrome City?

A: I actually just recently found Alex and Chrome City Creative on Social media and instantly loved what she was doing and of course her great style. I had to feature her on my Stylin’ & Profiling series on my blog to get the deets on her style and what inspires it!

Thanks for being a #ChromeHomie, Katie!
