The #ChromeCrew is so stoked to share this post with you because it is about something that fuels our creativity and inspires us everyday; music! We have created a brand new Spotify playlist with some of our favorite sweater weather jams that we have been obsessed with. So without further ado, let’s get into some of the tracks that we have been loving!
Ella Vos- "Rearrange" >>>
Ella Vos is a fierce pop singer based in L.A., who writes warm and dreamy songs with badass lyrics. We are especially inspired by her music because her lyrics are honest and meaningful. Vos expresses her feelings through her music, which you can hear when you listen to her lyrics about women's rights, motherhood, confidence, and other important messages. The song “Rearrange,” which Allison has been loving, is about not letting yourself change who you are in order to be accepted.
<<< Tom Petty- "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around"
Ever since Tom Petty’s passing last month, the Chrome Crew has been listening to all of his famous rock & roll songs. One of Bailey’s favorites that she cannot stop listening to is the song, “Stop Draggin' My Heart Around.” As one of the songs in which Tom Petty collabed with Stevie Nicks, it was also the first single from Stevie Nicks’ debut solo album. Tom Petty broke through in the music industry in the 1970s after dropping out of high school to join a band and went on to win three Grammys becoming one of the most well known artists in the country.
MØ- "When I Was Young" >>>
Denmark Native, Karen Marie Aagaard, who goes by the moniker MØ, started to gain popularity after singing in Avicii's track, Dear Boy. Her indie pop sound, vocals, and “beat driven music” began to make a big impact on the music scene in 2013. Kylie started to get into MØ’s most recent album, “When I Was Young” when it popped up in her suggested music on Spotify. She suggests to listen to the album while doing work because the music is slow, yet has a good beat that keeps her awake.
<<< Otis Redding- "A Change is Gonna Come"
If you know Alex, you know she is a huge fan of Otis Redding, and she has been listening to “A Change is Gonna Come” on repeat. This song has so much meaning behind it, and it makes for a great story revolved around Civil Rights. Sam Cooke decided to write this song in 1963 after hearing Bob Dylan’s civil rights song, “Blowin’ in the Wind.” After Cooke was killed, Otis did whatever he could to keep this song alive and quickly picked this song up for his album Otis Blue. Today, Rolling Stones Magazine ranks it as number 12 on the list of 500 greatest songs ever written.
SZA- "The Weekend" >>>
SZA is a new R&B singer-songwriter on the music scene. Her song “The Weekend” was featured on her debut solo album, Ctrl, and is up for a Grammy nomination this year. Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, and Danja were also credited as the song samples “Set the Mood (Prelude)/Until the End of Time” from Justin’s 2006 album FutureSex/LoveSounds. It's no surprise that with a little magic from Justin Timberlake, this song went on to be played all over the country and eventually went platinum. Our social media guru, Dani, has been obsessed with this song and finds its chill melody to be perfect for any mood.
From Allison’s unique pop jams to Alex’s soulful tunes we have a playlist full of killer song selections. Listen to the whole thing here.
