At the beginning of August, Grant Park will be flooded with music lovers from all over the states and abroad for the 27th year of Lollapalooza. The lineup this year features artists like Vampire Weekend, Khalid and Walk the Moon, but we’ve got our own ideas for who to see during the hectic weekend.
Day 1: Thursday, August 2nd
<<< Arctic Monkeys
Though it is not the first time that the Arctic Monkeys have graced a Lollapalooza stage it has been a while. Coming off their 4-year hiatus, Arctic Monkeys will be performing songs off their newest album Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino and (we’re hoping) some old favorites. The band’s style has shifted for the newest release and though some fans may not be eager about the new sound, we can’t wait to see how it translates to the stage.
Day 2: Friday, August 3rd
<<<Greta Van Fleet
Greta Van Fleet is a rock band from Michigan. With three of their members being brothers, it is clear to see the strong bond that they share and their young age makes the music all the more impressive. Each of the members has a different genre of music they enjoy, while one loves folk another is more interested in jazz, and while they all connected through the blues, the combination of styles has created their rock n roll persona. We love them for the Led Zeppelinesque tunes, and funky look.
Day 3: Saturday, August 4th
<<< St. Vincent
We are over the moon that this art rock badass is going to take the stage on Saturday! Her Fear the Future tour was a reminiscent show taking fans through some of her most famed songs in the order they were written before she performed the new works of MASSEDUCTION. We’re excited to see what she has planned for this set, and not just for music. Annie Clark’s slick short hair and angular guitar complement her killer looks-we’re sure to leave with some style inspiration.
Day 4: Sunday, August 5th
If you’re into garage rock, you’ll definitely recognize this name. Jack White is one of the most highly-anticipated headliners of the weekend, and it’s no surprise. The artist’s decades-long career has earned him 12 Grammy awards and 33 nominations. His eccentric style adds to the rock edge he brings to every stage. His talents in singing, songwriting, and performance, in general, make him a can’t miss.
