Rajun Cajun’s Continued Reign Throughout the Transforming Landscape of Hyde Park

December 6, 2018

For 25 years, Trushar and Anila Patel have been an integral part of merging two diverse cultural cuisines: Soul Food and Indian Fare. Having lived in Kenya as an Indian man, Patel has brought a worldliness to Hyde Park’s already international community that has nourished local residents, students, retirees and even the former President of the United States and First Lady, Barack and Michelle Obama. The rich seasonings from their homeland and the deluxe flavor of southern cuisine have created a quarter century-long tradition at this hidden gem. Rajun Cajun harmonizes two different global cuisines to create satisfying meals for their community.

“We opened in 1993 to fill the void of good Indian food on the South Side of Chicago. We are a family run business and pride ourselves on friendly service.” - Trushar Patel

Within the walls of Rajun Cajun you get to take a trip around the world! The interior walls of Rajun Cajun showcase postcards from all around the world, sent from their loyal customers and friends. These postcards share different cultures with visitors who dine in which reflects the diverse cuisines available as well. Be sure to check out this restaurant in Hyde Park for a trip around the world featuring tastes of Indian and Cajun cuisine.
