July #ChromeCalendar

July 12, 2019

Take a look into what’s on our calendar for the month of July! The Chicago summer is in full swing and jam packed with client events, different festivals that range from food to music to pop culture, and the cannot-miss summer movie experience at Millennium Park.

Taste of Chicago

Chicago’s largest free-admission outdoor festival is back this month! Experience the flavors of Chicago’s diverse restaurants at the beloved food festival, Taste of Chicago. This year, you can find 82 of Chicago’s best restaurants participating in this annual lakefront extravaganza. The festival will also provide live music, food trucks, local artists showcasing their work, and performances from local dance companies to make this event even more special. Although ticket purchase is required for food, the rest of the Taste of Chicago experience is free and open to the public. Don’t miss the chance to explore this flavorful food and Chicago cultural fusion this summer.

Date: July 10-14

Location: Grant Park, 337 E. Randolph St.

Millennium Park Summer Film Series

Throughout the summer, Chicago locals and visitors are invited to relax and enjoy the warm weather by watching movie favorites at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park. Attendees are welcome to kickback, picnic, and enjoy screenings of award-winning movies, cult favorites, and family classics on a large, 40-foot LED screen combined with the Pavilion’s concert-hall quality sound system.

This unique movie experience is one city dwellers and visitors cannot miss! If you haven’t stopped by already, the Summer Film Series will be screening a double feature this upcoming week. The first movie shown will be Moonlight, the heartfelt drama which won an Academy Award for Best Picture back in 2016.

After a 15 minute intermission, the Park will be screening Pan’s Labyrinth, the dark and twisted fantasy directed by award-winning Mexican filmmaker, Guillermo del Toro. You won't want to miss out on this one-of-a-kind movie experience that the beautiful city of Chicago has to offer.

Date: July 16

Location: Jay Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park

Pitchfork Music Festival

One of Chicago’s most special musical events, Pitchfork Music Festival,  will be celebrating their 14th year this month. Hosted in the heart of Chicago’s Union Park, Pitchfork unites the hottest emerging artists across a spectrum of genres on July 19-21. The lineup includes artists like HAIM, Charlie XCX, Rico Nasty, Whitney, and many more.

While the festival usually hosts around 60,000 attendees who spend their time enjoying the musical performances, Pitchfork expands beyond that. The festival incorporates retail fairs as an opportunity to showcase the work of 50 individual vendors. These vendors are specific to the Chicago area and promote the local arts and food communities. Pitchfork weekend stands out to be one of the most fun and rewarding musical events in Chicago for the whole year.

Date: July 19-21

Location: Union Park

Liz Margulis and Lefty Out There Event at The Darling

The weekend of Friday, July 19th, Chicago will see a swarm of visitors who will be attending the first ever ComplexCon in Chicago and/or Pitchfork Music Festival in Union Park. As two major events that shape the way we understand music, art + fashion, we are putting together an after party event co-hosted by fashion stylist Elizabeth Margulis of Big Hair Big City and popular street artist Lefty Out There. Doubling as a joint birthday celebration, both influential individuals will be curating a VIP guest list of their closest friends who also make up the fabric of Chicago's creative community.

Hosted by one of our beloved #ChromeClients, The Darling, the charming social club will be providing their newest summer menu with refreshing new cocktails to combat the summer heat. For those who want to cool off, we’d recommend the Emerald City cocktail served with aviation gin, pernod absinthe, midori, cucumber and mint infused simple syrup, lemon juice, muddled mint, and topped with tonic to refresh. For citrus lovers, the Bird of Paradise cocktail might be a better fit as it contains del maguey vida mezcal, chareau liqueur, aloe juice, aperol, hibiscus syrup, and lemon juice. Their modern take on delicious cocktails goes on and on and on! Stop by to try their freshest new cocktails for yourself this summer.

Date: July 19

Location: The Darling, 905 W Randolph St

ComplexCon

ComplexCon is upping Chicago’s entire festival game this summer. While ComplexCon has been gracing the West Coast for the past three years offering pop culture, music, style, food, art, innovation, activism, and much more, it is finally making its way to the Midwest! The most recent ComplexCon brought in 60, 000 people throughout this two day cultural experience. We expect ComplexCon Chicago to bring the same energy while celebrating the city’s vibrant individuality. The event will highlight collaborations from some of the most influential influencers as well as prominent brands that push our culture forward. You can expect to shop exclusive releases, listen to beautiful live-performances, watch inspiring talks from the most creative minds of our time, and fully immerse yourself in this one-of-a-kind pop culture experience. The lineup includes performances by: Schoolboy Q, Saweetie, Elle Mai, Taylor Bennett, Joe FreshGoods, and many more!
