Fall Cocktail Favorites

November 8, 2019

Fall is flying by! Here at Chrome City, we’re all about that hustle and grind during the week. But on the weekends, it’s time to take in the beauty that Chicago has to offer before we’re blanketed in snow—and sipping on some standout seasonal cocktails is at the top of that list. Here are some of our favorite fall cocktails from our #ChromeClients. Go give ’em a sip, and then tell us which one is your favorite!

Flora Fauna: The pineapple Old Fashion at Flora Fauna in River North has become a fast favorite. You get the warming benefits from the Old Forrester Bourban to take the chill off, but it’s the pineapple cordial that’ll put you in a tropical state of mind. We like to think of it as a liquid reminder that yes we can make it through 5 months of winter. Pair this sip with one of Flora Fauna’s tasty hot pots to really get your warm on!

The Drifter: Our morning coffee is mandatory this time of year. But when it gets really cold, we take that mentality into the evenings, too. At The Drifter in River North, Chicago’s favorite speakeasy for live entertainment, we’ve fallen for the Bu-Coffee, a killer sip sure to get your buzz on. Made with Fortaleza Reposado, Coffee Heering, Clement Coconut, Creme de Cocao and cream, it’s a decadent as it is tasty. Looking for something a little less potent? Choose from The Drifter’s more than 100 rotating cocktails presented on tarot cards.

The Darling: Sometimes we like a little bit of fruitness with our

fall, and The Darling in the West Loop knows how to accommodate. The Darling is always our go-to for truly artisan craft cocktails, and the fall lineup of sips doesn’t disappoint. Our perennial favorite is The Darling Buds of May, a mix of Flora de Cana 7 Rum, Rhum Jm 100, passionfruit juice, apple cider, agave syrup and a hint of basil. It’s the apple cider that brings up all that fall nostalgia, while the rum warms our bellies and our souls. And nothing beats the cozy atmosphere of The Darling’s handsomely appointed library when the weather starts nipping at our noses.

Jolly Pumpkin: Pumpkin lattes? Meh. We’d rather slug a pumpkin beer any day of the week. All fall, Jolly Pumpkin in Hyde Park is serving perfect pours of its La Parcela “Pumpkin Patch,” a 6-month aged sour pumpkin ale with notes of spice and cocoa that gives us all the harvestime feels. But why stop there?! Opt for a tasting flight of Jolly Pumpkin’s delicious sour beers and linger over your selections. After all, no one’s in a rush for winter to show up.
